DISPLACED

A photo essay exploring the impact of La Grande's hydroelectric complex on the community of Chisasibi and its surrounding territory. This project was photographed over a six week residence in the Eeyou Istchee which was facilitated by the Cree School Board. As an outsider, I was intrigued by the history of Cree culture and its strong ties to the land. With photography, I tried to understand how the construction of the dams had an impact (both positive and negative) on the culture.

This series was awarded a Magenta Flash Forward in 2017.
