WILD LIFE
The long sits, the early mornings, the frigid waits and numerous hours spent staring at the landscape… they are all part of the adventure. By using an analog large format camera, I take the time to document these poetic moments in hope of capturing the essence of a tradition. Some say it’s barbaric, others think its part of who we are. Hunting is definitely a polarizing activity but this photographic series tends to shine a bit of light on the age old tradition by meeting the perpetrators who pulled the trigger. This Wild Life series is part of bigger project in which I investigate our need to stay connected with nature, no matter the costs. In our modern days, we are living a wild and agitated life that is driven by speed and technology. But I’m not the only one who wishes to slow things down and get my hands dirty in the soil. This ongoing photographic series is portraying both the old generation of traditional hunters and the younger crowd of invested conservation advocates.
Together, they are all living a wild life of conquest and duality with the elements… Because you have to be slighty mad to wake up at two in the morning and make your way to a duck hunting spot with a kayak on semi-frozen rivers. But in our day and age, that’s the life we choose not the one we’re imposed.
